The main advice I'd give you is to default to believing the most compassionate option in a situation.
Right now I think you tend to be defaulting to a, while not intentionally malicious, definitely a negative outcome for you. That people will hurt or disappoint you. And I understand why. YOu've had a lot of hurt and disappointment in the past.
But these people are not them. They're brand new experiences. In the moment, when in doubt, default to assuming they'll veer towards the good.
